Medicine against arsenic poisoning and neurological diseases

In Bangladesh tens of millions of people suffer from arsenic poisoning. WHO has called it the largest mass poisoning in history. It is caused by natural arsenic in the ground water. Viola Vitalis AB has developed the only Government approved medicine to counteract arsenic poisoning. The CEO of Viola Vitalis, Abdul Kader PhD, presented the company and its plans to distribute the medicine. More information on Viola Vitalis web site.

Viola Vitalis also develops other health products. Among them a product to counteract neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, where long term poisoning is a contributing factor. A product sheet can be found here.

Polygeneration of electricity and water in rural community

Professor Andrew Martin gave a status report from the study for Sida that the Royal Institute of Technology is pursuing. The study looks at all aspects of introducing new technology for removing arsenic from drinking water. The presentation is here.

Solar purification of water in co-generation of hot water

Aapo Sääsk gave a status report of a solar purification project that is financed by HVR Water Purification AB, Stockholm, Sweden and Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), RAK, United Arab Emirates. The product will be commercialised during 2014 and will produce 20 litre of drinking water per hour or more.  The presentation is here.
